Limer Driving Academy - providing Driving Lessons throughout the North West

My Story
Back in 2010, I reached a turning point. I was working long hours, barely seeing my young family, and life had started to feel like my wife and I were passing ships in the night — one finishing work just as the other began. I knew something had to change. That’s when I made the decision to retrain and become a driving instructor.
By 2011, I’d qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and decided to take the leap to set up my own driving school. With the help of my wife and our young son, we handed out 10,000 leaflets around the local area to get our name out there. To give our learners the best possible experience, we introduced 2-hour block lessons — helping pupils reach test standard faster, pass sooner, and ultimately save money.
In 2017, we launched our Fully Funded instructor training programme, something we’re incredibly proud of. This initiative gave aspiring instructors the opportunity to train without paying thousands upfront or taking on financial risk — helping many people start rewarding new careers.
Fast forward to 2023, as the world began to find its rhythm again after COVID, we reintroduced our online theory training and began offering part-time employment for driving instructors — another first for our industry.
At Limer Driving Academy, we’re committed to delivering the best in both learner and instructor training. Our mission is to raise standards, create opportunities, and make the learning experience as enjoyable and rewarding as possible.
This year, I was honoured to be nominated for Business Person of the Year at the Rochdale Business Awards, where we proudly finished as a Top Three Finalist. It’s an achievement that means a great deal to me personally — and it inspires me to keep improving and innovating in everything we do.
